Fabric Covered Cork Board
20 Feb
I have this giant cork board that I wanted to hang over my desk, but first I had to pretty it up. I can’t have bare cork in my house! The horror! *clutches pearls, faints*
So anyway, I had this gorgeous fabric that I’ve been wanting use for something, and this was the perfect project! I ironed my fabric – I know, it shocked me too – and then laid it face down on the floor and positioned the cord board over it.
Then, since my staple gun wouldn’t work, I just used push pins to secure the fabric all the way around. Start in the middle of your longest side, pulling snuggly as you work. Then go to the opposite side and repeat, checking the front to make sure you haven’t pulled or stretched the fabric too much. Then do the other two sides the same way.

Make sure you do the corners nice and pretty, and reattach any hardware on the outside of the fabric.

I strung picture wire between the two hooks and hung it up. Then, uh oh. I swear, this happens to me every time I use picture wire.

No worries, I used some leftover fabric to make the world’s worst bow and tacked it on top.

Then I added a bunch of pictures, and messed with the bow about a million times.

I promise I hung it straight, I just can’t take pictures straight.
So there it is, my first craft project in the new apartment! Oh, and do you want to see my favorite feature in my new place? Check it out…

That’s a whole wall of built in storage in my dining room, and the whole thing is dedicated to crafts, craft supplies, fabric, tools, paint, and other crafty/DIY goodness. The best part? It’s so not even close to being full.

That is awesome! I really like the bow on top, and I am insanely jealous of all your craft storage space!
Thanks! That was definitely a major selling point for the apartment!
