Beauty Products I Love

4 Oct

I don’t write a lot (or ever) about beauty products because I am both lazy and cheap. This means that I use very few beauty products, and the ones I do use are from Target. But lately there are two stand-outs in my make up bag that I am loving and I wanted to share!

MAC Matte

A make up artist recommended this to me, and I’m in love. I get super oily/shiny, and in everyday life it doesn’t really matter. I don’t usually wear foundation or powder, so I can blot throughout the day. But for special events, it’s a different story. When I do myself up in foundation, blush, and all that other junk I don’t want to be messing with my face. Enter MAC Matte. It’s a clear gel that you put on before your foundation, and it keeps away the shiny mess. It’s basically magic. In fact, I wore it Saturday night and even though I forgot to put powder over my liquid foundation, I still managed to end the night without a shine in sight.

Caveat: It rubs in really nicely on your face, but I use my fingers to do it, and my fingers get all slippery. This makes opening things like liquid liner and mascara difficult, so you may want to go ahead and open those before applying.

Pixi Large Lash Mascara

I have no idea where I got this, maybe in a swag bag at BlogHer? At any rate, after my current mascara bit the dust last week, I grabbed this one from my stash of extras. I. Love. It. The brush is big and fluffy, it goes on smoothly, and it only takes one coat to make my lashes pop. This is especially impressive because I have virtually no eyelashes to speak of.

Caveat: If you do your top lashes first and then open your eyes really big to do the bottom ones, your top lashes will brush your eyelids and you’ll get mascara up there. This is easily fixed by doing your bottom lashes first, but I’m not that bright.

Disclaimer: No one asked me to post this or paid me for this post. I bought the MAC Matte myself. I may have bought the mascara. Or I may have gotten it for free. I really don’t remember. Click on either of the images to go to the site and buy some for yourself.
