Saturday Snippets

Over the course of a week I have a ton of hilarious and fascinating thoughts are too long for twitter, but too good not to share with all of you. So here’s a small sampling of them. Enjoy this enlightening and terrifying look inside my head.

Sometimes, when I’m playing with Teddy I make a big show of wriggling my thumbs around. It’s not that I’m trying to rub it in that I have opposable thumbs and he doesn’t, but I want to make sure he knows who’s boss.

The other morning I was driving to work and saw the Google Street View car. I may or may not have started flailing my arms around and squealing like an idiot. It was then that I realized:
Google Street View car : nerds :: Santa’s sleigh : kids

I just spent a lot of time on Google trying to figure out if my relationship example up there was formatted correctly. I never did get my answer, because I don’t know what that thing is called, except that I always hated those questions on standardized tests.

As my Twitter feed is constantly reminding me, BlogHer is less than a month away. As always, my biggest conference concern is what shoes I’m going to wear. I always try to wear the most comfortable shoes possible, and I always end up with cramped, blistered, sore feet. How does everyone feel about me wearing my sock monkey slippers to BlogHer? Yay or nay? If it goes well, I may wear them to New Media Expo next year too.

About two weeks ago we took an office field trip to Costco for snacks. While we were there, we picked up one of those giant candy assortments. This seemed like a great idea, until you get to the part where I’ve been eating candy nonstop for the past two weeks. The roof of my mouth is all cut up from eating Sour Punch straws.

Why is it that when I sew things by hand, I end up with beautiful straight lines with even stitches, but when I use a sewing machine I end up with wonky lines? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Isn’t the machine supposed to be EASIER? In related news, I’m in the middle of a never-ending craft project, but it’s pretty flipping amazing if I do say so myself. Maybe someday it will be finished and I can share it with all of you.

Has anyone heard of Stage 32? It’s a social networking site for film and television professionals. I am neither, and yet I keep getting emails telling me I’ve gotten an “exclusive invitation” to join and requests from people who want to add me to their networks. I don’t understand this. Is there some group of people out there who think I’m somehow involved in the entertainment industry? Do they think I moonlight as a key grip? I mean, I’ve worked enough live events in my life, I could probably make it as a grip. But key grip? No way, I just don’t have that kind of technical knowledge. I mean, it’s flattering, but it’s just not feasible.

Wonky. Have not heard that word in ages and can assure you…I will now be running it in the ground with over-use.
And yes. Sock monkey slippers are a must! Because if I was doing BlogHer, I’d be the first to point, squeal and run to hug your neck.
And you’d only have yourself to blame for that.
=)

Sometimes I also make a big show out of getting things off the counters. “Oohhh… look at me… I can reach tall things.”
