Saying Thank You
22 Mar
Every day this week I’ve been emailing a different blogger to say “thank you”. This started because I’m awful at leaving comments, but wanted to let people know that I’m reading, and that their words touched me. Then it made me feel all warm and fuzzy, so I decided to make it a conscious effort.
This isn’t about networking, or schmoozing, or relationship-building, or any other buzz word. This is just a reader saying “thank you for your words; thank you for letting us all into your life”.
Because really, isn’t that what blogging is all about? Isn’t that why we all started this crazy journey? We want to connect with people, we want to put something out there and have someone say, “me too!”.
I started this blog almost five years ago, and I’ve seen a lot of changes in the space since then. But I hope that one thing that hasn’t changed is the desire to connect with people. So that’s what I’m doing this week.
Call it getting back to basics, call it being nice, hell, call it brown-nosing if you want. I think we could all use a little more positive energy and a little more thankfulness.
Have you said “thank you” lately?

I love it. This is great. What a fantastic thing to do…and goodness knows, this old world could use a lot more gracious people like you.
So, thank YOU for having such a precious heart.

What a great idea! I saw your feature on Momcomm. I’d stumbled on your blog before and agree with Melissa that you have some good SM info.
Thank you so much!
And this? Is one reason you’re so awesome!

Well you know, I do what I can.
I think that’s so nice of you.. I make a point to reply to every post on my blog.. it’s small so it’s easy, but I hope someday when it becomes big to still make that effort..

Thank you! I try to reply to every comment, but sometimes I get a little behind!
I think that’s a great thing to start doing. I actually DM-ed a reader on Twitter last week thanking her for her comments on my blog, and sent out a general Tweet to thank everyone. Let’s keep up the thankfulness!

Yes! I’m trying to make “thank you” a regular part of my day.
