>Book Page Tray

18 Mar

>Oh my goodness, I am so in love with my newest project that I seriously cannot stop looking at it! I suddenly want to cover everything in pages from old books!

I had a green tray that my mom gave me because she was going to throw it away and I thought I could do something with it. I’m actually not sure where I got the idea to cover it in book pages, but I really love the result.

Sadly, I did not remember to take a picture before I started, but you can see what color the tray was here… and you can also see one of the many “nicks” it had.

I tore pages out of an old book – a Reader’s Digest compilation that I picked up for free in the “reject” pile at my used bookstore. You could use any book, but I really love the aged look of these pages.

Then I just grabbed a foam brush and my trusty Mod Podge and got to work! I used Mod Podge to adhere the pages to the tray, and then gave it a few coats over the top to finish it off. In the picture above you can see that my pages got a little wrinkled while I was putting them on. This was mostly fixed with the topcoats of Mod Podge, but it’s not perfect. Oh well, I still love it.

Here’s the end result that I am so madly in love with…

    >That is so great! I love repurposing things. I have ramdom bowl and containers all over I use for storage. I have this crazy collection of boxes in my room trying to put them to good re-use…
